Hearing is one of the most important faculties a human being is blessed with. We, people listen to all sorts of sounds in a day, but the most pleasant sound that any one can possibly hear is that of musical instruments. Besides bestowing the pleasure and delight, music has the ability to sooth and calm one’s mind. There are myriad musical instruments available today which can churn out some of the most melodious music ever. The charm of ethnic instruments is unparalleled and definitely exquisite.

There are a number of ethnic instruments available today, such as the Egyptian Oud, the Alexandria doumbek and the Djembe drums. All of these instruments belong to separate nations and ethnicities.

The Alexandria Doumbek, which first originated in the Egypt, shares the same place of origin as the Egyptian Oud, yet they vary immensely in their musical quality. On the other hand, the Djembe drums, which have been popular throughout the world because of the gripping and enthusiastic musical sounds produced by it, belong to west-Africa.

While the doumbek and Djembe drums are both examples of drums, Egyptian Oud is a fine example of percussion instruments and comes under the string category of guitars. It is generally considered as a very crude and raw kind of musical instrument which can be easily crafted by local craftsmen. However, with the popularity of ethnic instruments gaining momentum throughout the world, this instrument too has gone for a facelift whilst the charm of its musical quality is retained.
